XRC is a general incorporated association launched in 2015 under the name VR Consortium with the mission of building an ecosystem for the VR industry by connecting creative artists with companies and academic institutions. Renamed as XR Consortium in 2019, XRC continues to serve as an organization that brings together companies engaged in VR, AR, and MR activities to tackle common challenges and push the industry to greater heights. The consortium has 80 member companies as of December 1st, 2022.
